• For many of us, our childhood involved playing games with a ball. Balls are versatile playthings: they can be caught, thrown, hit or even dodged. There are also many important developmental skills involved in using a ball.

  • From early in their lives, children show an interest in science. They often notice things that we as adults take for granted, such as the clouds in the sky or how the pedal on the kitchen bin works. While there are times when most parents find their children’s interest in objects frustrating or untimely, it is worth fostering when you can. This is because observing and touching objects and exploring concepts can help children’s thinking skills.

  • Learning to dress is one of those skills where parents can play an important part in helping their child. It takes several years of practice before children will crack dressing and be fairly fast at it. Being able to cope with dressing is important for children who are due to start school and it is also an aspect of learning and development with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
