EXCELLENCE FROM THE START
EXCELLENCE FROM THE START
In Family Room 1 our priority is to provide a calm, safe and emotional environment for babies where they feel loved and cared for.
Although there is no ridged routine for babies in our downstairs family rooms, we do believe that all babies need a little bit of structure throughout their day. We are more than happy to follow your child’s home routine. However if you would prefer to follow ours, please see below. Over the period of approximately three to four hours, very young babies up to the age of six months would follow the below routine throughout the day.
On arrival your baby will be greeted and settled in by a member of staff. You can let us know how your child has slept and what they done the previous evening.
Your baby will be given a choice of weetabix or porridge, and if appropriate finger food such as toast or crumpets. Drinking of water is encouraged at meal times. .
Babies are encouraged to explore a range of toys and equipment such as heuristic play baskets and take part in messy sessions and play with musical instruments.
One to One time with key practitioners looking at books, singing nursery rhymes, cuddles, relaxtion and snuggling in. Sensory play is also encouraged for example with fabrics.
Nappies are changed as and when needed as well as at regular intervals You may store small packets of nappies at the nursery which you will be asked to replace when necessary.
Only when children are ready will they be placed on a sleep mat with their choice of comforter, given a kiss and tucked in while a lullaby cd quietly plays in the background.
By the time your baby is ready to have solids introduced into their diet (be advised by your health visitor) they may require the above routine to be altered slightly, but the principles of feeding, playing and sleeping will remain the same until they reach the age of approximately 12 months.
